You will need to visit our office to renew your license. If you are a professional class 1, 2 or 4 driver and/or have a medical condition that could affect your driving, a driver’s medical is mandatory. All Albertan's are required to have a drivers medical at the age of 75.
Knowledge Tests
We offer all classes of knowledge tests and class 5 road tests. Knowledge tests do not require an appointment and may be written from 8:00 am until 3:45 pm. Road tests can be booked online albertadriverexaminer.ca/
In order to obtain an Alberta License or Non-Driver Identification card you will be required to prove your identity, your legal status in Canada and proof of residency in Alberta.
There are 2 types of abstracts that can be requested for 3, 5 or 10 year periods:

New to Alberta
If you hold a Drivers Licence from any other province or territory in Canada, you can exchange it for a license of the same class in Alberta. You are required to obtain your Alberta Drivers license within 90 days of becoming a resident of Alberta. You will be required to surrender your old license, present a second piece of supporting identification and prove residency in Alberta and legal presence in Canada.
