In 2016, the Government of Alberta decided to eliminate the mailed out renewal reminders for both vehicle registrations and driver's licences. The Government made this decision to potentially save tax payers approximately $3 million dollars/year by eliminating the printing and postage costs. In order to still provide Albertans with the option to receive a reminder, the Government came up with a more modern, cost-effective, and convenient alternative. E-reminders!
